Anna Schumann

I grew up in South Carolina and am currently living and working in Atlanta, GA.

My work explores the role of the individual in relation to the environment. I have focused on revitalizing romanticism in my work, emphasizing the emotional feeling we experience with nature. My own experiences are represented in the work, and are derived from memories of the sublime, fear, and exhilaration. The paintings of Casper David Friedrich, Albert Bierstadt, and Rockwell Kent have been and remain a strong influence. Works by these artists put into focus the exploration of the individual within the environment, just as I aspire to do.
